La Lumiere 1 - Hammond Gavit 0

La Lumiere played host to Hammond Gavit on Tuesday evening in their final home game of the season. Johanna Guentert scored the first and only goal of the night in the first half to give the Lady Lakers a 1 - 0 victory. Allison Coffeen had 5 saves in goal to secure the shutout. La Lumiere moves to 3 - 5 on the season. Their next match is away against Elkhart Christian this Friday the 28th.  
 
 
On Monday, September 24, the La Lumiere volleyball team played a home match against Heritage Christian from Dyer, IN

La Lumiere Lakers played a home match against Culver Girls Academy this Tuesday. The Lakers lost 0-5, valiantly fighting on defense for the entire game. Goalkeeper Allison Coffeen had 5 saves, while offensively sophomore Johanna Guentert shot three times. The Lakers fall to 1-5 for the season. They are on the road this Thursday, playing East Chicago Central High School. 
 
 
La Lumiere's varsity boys' soccer team traveled to Valparaiso Tuesday to take on the Lions of Victory Christian.  Matt Jelinek broke a 2-2 tie with a header off Ted Schaetzle's corner.  Brian Caplice had 2 goals to lead the Lakers and Daniel Lee and freshman Matt Bolda added 1 each in the Lakers 5-2 victory.  The win pushes LaLu's record to 3-1.  The Lakers will return to the field Thursday at home to take on Culver. 
 
 
On Tuesday, 9/11, the La Lumiere volleyball team played Victory Christian in Valparaiso, IN.

Playing in their third game of the season, the La Lumiere girls conceded an early goal to Kouts before sophomore Johanna Guentert equalized off an assist from fellow sophomore Emily Beach. The Lady Lakers went behind 3-1 before the halftime whistle and gave up two more in the second half to finish at 5-1. Despite constant pressure, sophomore Allison Coffeen notched 10 saves in the goal. The team drops to 1-2 on the season. Their next game is at Westville on September 13.  
 
 
The La Lumiere boys varsity tennis team (2-2) defeated The Howe School 5-0 and JV won 2-0 at La Lumiere Tuesday afternoon. The scores are as followed.

On Tuesday, September 4, La Lumiere girls volleyball played the Lady Crusaders from South Bend

Result:  La Lumiere won 3-0: 25-19, 25-13, 26-24

Mickey Macius, who just transferred in from St. Viator in Illinois, went 11-20 for 242 yards and 3 TDs.  Cody Ward led the Lakers in rushing with 98 yards on 10 carries with 3 TDs.  Will Whalen was on the receiving end of two of Macius' TDs and another newcomer, Ade Aruna, caught the 3rd of Macius' TD's.  Macius also rushed for 68 yds
in his Laker debut.
Defensively, Aruna led the way with 15 tackles and 1 sack; Brian Roberts had six tackles and 2 sacks, and Julian Lloyd had 8 tackles and 1 sack.  Ward and Austin Chuning had 1 Int each on defensive.
